Sungai Cherok Dam serves as the main water supply dam to Genting Highlands Resort and all its surrounding facilities. Being one of Malaysia's top tourists attractions, Genting gains popularity exponentially, and requires regular expansions and upgrades.

To accommodate for the expansions of the hilltop area, the demand for clean water supply also grows. This project was to enlarge the capacity of the existing dam, by raising the crest level of the dam by 11 meters.

Main challenge was to maintain continuous raw water supply to Genting Highland throughout the construction of the dam expansion for 2 years.
